  • Good Weekend

    Had a great weekend.

    1. Watched 300 – I would call it a decent movie. Watchable. Nothing great. The movie has awesome graphics and some midblowing sequences, like the one where a Spartan kills a Rhino, but what the movie lacks is the ability to get the audience involved in the movie. The movie has lots of blood and gore but at no moment do you find yourself squirming at it. The movie shows underdogs fighting against all odds, but at no moment do you find yourself rooting for it.
    2. Installed Windows on the home PC. Also installed Ubuntu on one of the partitions. Seems that I remember some Linux after all.
    3. Watched the Australian GP. Kimi kicked real ass in his first race with Ferrari. Gonna be fun filled season it seems. Also, Lewis Hamilton drove with purpose and seems like he is gonna give Alonso one heck of a fight. Kubica and Rosberg also drove nicely.
    4. Had loads of fun with Sam, TK, Appu, Pari, Bansal and Sachin. One of the fun filled weekends you always look forward to.

On a separate note the DL101 I had registered for on WIPO Academy sent me the certificate for successful completion of the course. Very cool I must say. Will post a scanned copy very soon.

Last, but not the least, Inzy has retired. The lazy elegance will not be seen in One day cricket any more after the World Cup. You will be missed.

  • Black Friday

I saw this movie quite a while back, but the scenes are still fresh in my memory. The gory scene just after the blast and the deformed bodies. The police torture scene and the man shooting himself and his family. The exploitation of angry Muslim youth by Tiger Memon and many more. Its hard to believe that the same director has actually directed Shaka Laka Boom Boom.

The movie has been adapted by Anurag Kashyap from a book by Hussain Zaidi. The movie is fast paced and moves effortlessly form the past to the present and various scenes. The movie uses original names, from Tiger Memon to Dawood Ibrahim. No one has been spared, not the Muslims, not the Hindus, not the Police and not even Balasaheb Thakare. For once a hindi movie has called a spade a spade. The movie even manages to humanize the terrorists without actually pardoning them. As Ojas puts it here, “And that graffiti on the police station cell wall and that chase sequence… they have managed to catch even the minutest details.

The brilliant Kay Kay Menon, as Inspector Mario, speaks more from his eyes than his actions. The scenes with his dipping his head in a bucket of water, and giving the lady her spectacles back are just awesome. However, the movie’s best act goes to Pavan Malhotra as Tiger Memon. He has played his part exceptionally well. Tiger’s histerical shouting after his office is burnt down and his manipulation of the angry Muslim youth is spell binding. Also worth mention is a splendid performance by Aditya Srivastava as Badsah Khan. His potrayl of Badsah’s journey and the troubles during it make you sit up and take notice. His tussle scene with Yeda Yakub for his passport gets you to the edge of your seat. Overall the movie gets a 4.5/5 from me. A def must watch!!

One complain with the movie. I think at points it has under used the music by Indian Ocean. The song Bandeh comes at the end, and is a masterpiece. I wish I hear them play it live once.

PS: What is it with guys and water. I personally feel so much better after a shower when I am depressed and also how sweet the rain feels at times.

  • Rozana

This is the brilliant song sung by the now-seen-in-every movie, yet brilliant, Amitabh Bacchan. I personally know some one who wouldn’t be complaining at all.

The movie is Nishabd, apparently the RGV’s version of Lolita. Anyways, I liked the song and am posting the part of the song I really loved.

Brilliant lyrics and song. Go check it out.

  • Feeling Lonely

No idea why, but I somehow feel very lonely today.

Anyways, watched The Pursuit of Happyness today. Must say that it is a pretty good movie, totally worth a watch. Totally loved it, and especially the love of Will Smith for his kid (also his son in real life) and the trust of the kid in his father. Should give it 4/5.

  • Movie Fest!!

We actually watched Rocky Balboa and Parzania back-to-back. Rocky Balboa from 3-5 and Parzania from 5-7. Shailesh had this idea during the movie session today that we should watch at least four movies back-to-back someday at the theatre. Considering that a ticket costs 150 bucks this gonna be one heck of an expensive idea, but lots of fun none the less.

    Anyone interested??
